Filter Question

I currently have a penn plax cascade 1000 canister filter that says it flows 265gph but a buddy of mine is giving me a Fluval 306 canister filter that flows 300 gph and I'm wondering what one should I use it looks like the Fluval is recommended for tanks up to 70 gal and my penn plax says up to 100 gal can anyone help me decide what the best option is

The one that is easiest to use and clean honestly.

IMO , cans are great mechanical filters , and the added benifit of its use as a gac and gfo reactor is excellent. But it's drawback is it scientifically can become
A nitrate factory when bio media and live rock and rubble are used if it's not cleaned.
When I use mine, I run floss and carbon. Pop the top and change the floss. The bottom hardly ever has grunge so I put the lid right back on.

So you don't run any type of other media in your canister filter right now I have biomax, Fluval Prefilter, Seachem Matrix, carbon, and some other filter pads and stuff in there as well

Correct. I run floss only and carbon. IF I need a gfo I can just put it in if I need it based on phosphates etc.

Some folks like the extra media or Rock in there , but they clean it.
I'm lazy , I have Rock in the tank. Lol.
