I am looking for one that requires little to no modification Of the sump. I have a Waterbox 130.4 with 4” filter socks. I have seen the Klir one that appears to drop into the filter sock holder, but that one has not received great reviews.
Anyone with suggestions?

The Klir seems to be hit and miss from what I've read as well. There's the Clarisea, but you'll probably have to modify the filter sock holder or remove it entirely. I'm in the same boat with my Red Sea Reefer, but according to Red Sea their new ReefMat will work in my sump without modification. Time will tell I guess...

Check out the reefmat 500, you may need to take off the glass divider to make it work. I have a waterbox and I use klir 4" on 2nd holder, the first one I use filter floss as a pre filter. Works fine. Skimmer still take out stuff but dont get fill for weeks.

I've done a lot of research on the Klir rollers, and it seems like what you really have to be careful of is water level changes in your sump where the sensor is. Something as simple as a reactor T'd off your return clogging up will change the water level - leading to roll waste.

I have the klir in my Waterbox 100.3 which I believe is the same sump as the 130. It works great and I get about a month out of a roll. Worth the $20/roll not to have to clean socks every 3 days. I had nothing but problems with the sensor and controller. I had both replaced multiple times and it never fixed the problems, in the end I bypassed the controller and wired the motor directly to the adapter and control it with my apex and an apex optical sensor. it works great now and allows me to control the height before it advanced. I’m planning to use a filter Cup in the second chamber just waiting for it to arrive.

Interesting that you’ve had luck replacing an optical water level sensor with… an optical water level sensor. I wouldn’t have thought that’d solve it, but the apex one does have the advantage of being able to be placed wherever you like.

By bypassing the controller you are unable to use the optical sensor that comes with the klir. I just wanted to be clear that you need an alternative to have the filter advance as it gets dirty.
