Hi ! Quick question … the filter sock… how often do you clean it? Is it reusable?? How do you clean? Thank you!!

Every time I remove it, which for my tank is about 3 days. Yes, entirely reusable. Invert, rinse and scrub under warm water - then throw into the laundry when you've accumulated enough for a batch.

It’s ok to rinse under hot tap water ??

I don’t always have to throw in the washer right? That could be every like 2 weeks.
And with a capful of bleach only ?

Yes. I always launder them after they get full, but that's just me. I use OxiClean but many others do use bleach, yes.

I’m thinking about buying 200 micron filter socks. Is there any downside to this? Are they better ?? Thank you

The lower the micron, the more it filters.

I use 100 micron socks that I am currently changing daily. My sump previously had 6 sock holders, but I put a piece of glass over all but 2 of them. In 1 of the holders I keep a 100 micron sock, in the other I use for carbon.

The upside is that my water is much more clear this way.

The downside of the lower micron is that it clogs up quicker. That is why I have to change mine daily. I could probably go 2 days most of the time, but it would be clogged by the 2nd day for sure. And when I first started doing it after previously using 200 micron, they would clog in 1 day.

Of course, I could use more socks and distribute them out to make them last longer between changing, but I'm liking the daily thing and I know it will help with nutrient export this way.

Overall, it's been found that if you leave them in for more than 3 days, they will add nutrients. So you probably want to swap them every 3 days minimum.

And yes, 100% reusable. I wouldn't use them otherwise.
