I read an article that recommended using fragrance and dye free bleach. I am having trouble finding a specific product to purchase with this description. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I don't use bleach to clean my filter socks but I do use fragrance and dye free bleach on my outdoor pool. I buy it at Home Depot.

I use whatever brand of "disinfecting bleach" I can find in stores. I soak in 5 gallon with bleach for 24 hours, I rinse each sock thoroughly and use fingers to rub any remaining gunk off them, then I soak in 5 gallon again with some Prime and then rinse a second time

Thanks! If possible I am hoping to avoid the powerwashing step. I don't have access to a powerwasher.

Only use plain, regular bleach! Never use anything that has additives. These additives will remain in your filter socks and kill your corals! The bleach will dissipate, the additives are designed to stay in your clothes after washing and do not dissipate.

How does this look?

Our local big box store has it in the industrial/professional cleaning department. I have also seen it at the discount supermarket for cheap - around here Food4Less or the like.

I used socks on a temp tank last year and I threw them in my garage washing machine with just hot water and then let them air dry. Divorce would have been coming if I used the main washing machine, but I wash my garage towels, hot tub towels and my woodworking towels in this one.

If you get tired of washing your filter socks, we make a disposable solution. They are very simple to change and you get a perfectly clean filter every time. The flange assembly is reused and only the lightweight filter element is thrown away. You can follow the link below for more info. Let me know if you have any questions.
