I couldn't see paying 35 bucks for a cool sock holder so with a little Ebay surfing, I found these $16 for two. They are 1/4" and polished.

i bought a small piece of plexi glass and used a hole saw the size i needed. 8 bucks and made 4 out of it. Mine do not hang on the side though, they rest on a recess in the filter sock chamber.
