I'm running a 200 micron filter sock on my tank and for the past few days I have to take it out everyday and replace it with another because the water is pouring out the top of it like its full. It's nowhere near full. It just has some fish poop and it's the usual brown color. I'm also carbon dosing 3 ml of vinegar and .5 ml of vodka. It's a 55 gal and I've been carbon dosing for over a month. Can someone explain to me why my filter socks keep over flowing?

Stick your hand in there and see if you have any white, clearish slime on the inside of the sock.

Yep, it sounds like the carbon dosing is leaving deposits on the sock and stopping it up.

I would be guessing if I told you one way or another. I do know carbon dosing can leave a slimy residue, but I don't know the specifics.

If you lesson the dose, it won't help your tank as much as what your using now. It does kinda leave a snot mucus behind. You can get different socks to allow for that.
