Should your filter sock be completely submerged or as much as possible? Any negative effects from leaving it half submerged?

ive seen some systems with them submerged and some not. i have mine about half way. I dont think there is any negative effects from it. but ill be following this post to see what others say.

It makes absolutely no difference....as long as the incoming water is being filtered through the sock, it doesn't matter.

I would think its better to have them half way. I think any detritus coming into the sock would just flow out and making it's way back into the tank if it was totally under water.. At that point what's the point of using socks..

I would think as long as if by chance the sock overflows it can't spill water outside the sump either set up is fine.

I run my washer on rinse and spin cycle 2 times before I put anything in it. Then I put a little bleach and run the rinse and spin cycle again with the socks in it. Then run the rinse and spin cycle 1 more time not adding bleach for an extra rinse. Then let air dry.

We have our 2/3rd submerged ..change them out every 3--4 days.

Rinse with hose, turn inside out.

Wash with a bit of bleach, rinse

Place them in our storage tote of RODI water with prime ready for the next time.

I soak all mine in bleach until I go to my last 2 then I wash on whites cycle or sanitary with extra rinses then air dry. Before using I rinse with rodi
