Hi,
I usually turn my used filter socks inside out and wash in washing machine without soap. I did this yesterday and forgot to take them out of the machine. Well my wife threw some laundry on top of them and a tide pod and washed. My question is can I run them through again without the soap and use them or do I need to do more or replace them?

i would probably run them through without soap, maybe add a softener rinse cycle, and keep an eye on the tank when you put it in use. you should notice right away if there are any issues, most likely in the skimmer first.

Fabric softeners and scents are designed to stick to fibers. You could wash them again in hot water, but I'd also give them a week long soak in RODI water with a powerhead, and change out the water 2-3 times. Air and/or sun dry them to bleach them.

It seems like a lot of effort. Replacing them might be the better option.

thanks. It was 8 or 9 of them so expensive to replace but I might have to

I don't know where Salisbury is but it is really nice here in New Bern. I certainly do not miss all the snow.

I just didn't want to deal with the winters anymore. It's quite amusing down here. If they predict a chance of flurries overnight, schools close.
