So, I am trying to get rid of using filter sock but the foam pad in the baffle start clogging on the second day after cleaning.

I want to go back to filter sock and wonder if I am doing this correctly on cleaning the filter socks.

I power wash them and let them dry. Will the chlorine from tap water completely evaporated when dried? Am I adding any phosphate into the tank by doing so?

or I must rinse them in rodi or tank water. I do wirh tank water during water change only.

I soak my filter socks in bleach for a day, then rinse in the washing machine, then finally soak them in RODI w/ conditioner (like Prime).

I flip them inside out, put them in the washing machine with a cap full of bleach, run it on heat, then run a second cycle with no bleach. Let them air dry. I always run a cleaning cycle after with bleach as well.

No offense and thanks for the inputs but I will pass on the bleach and washing machine part.

I will go back with power wash and do it on water change day so that I can rinse them in tank water.

I now literately making rodi to rinse all the dried up ones.

It's a pretty common practice, I know its not the cleanest but thats why I do cleaning cycle after ;) They definitely come out clean.

Don't know about you, but I frequently add some pretty harsh stuff to my power sprayer (detergent for washing the car, de-greaser for washing the engine, or acid for cleaning the wood deck and fence), I'd be concerned using this on stuff going into my fish tank.

Never added anything to it.

I also turn inside out, wash without bleach, then with bleach, turn right side out and rinse with water only, and finally air dry and ready to re-use.

I personally have a dedicated washer machine just to keep detergents from entering my tanks, and vise versa, keep what ever was removed from the socks in the clothes my family wears.
