I bough the filter socks and they clog to easy and after repeated clean just got rid of them. The racks I found useless just made a egg crate shelf and put filter floss at the over flow. Change out once a day. I also you need a Tunze 9004 skimmer and that fits in one of the overflow chambers so that cuts it down to one side of the tank.

The socks will keep the water clearer by removing a lot of the particulate matter. This is why they clog up.
The InTank Media Basket allows you to add chemical media like GAC and Purigen besides the mechanical filtration of a sponge or floss.
If you don't have a sump or canister filter, then the Media Basket gives you better options.

I've never tried socks but I feel like it's way more effort than filter floss. For that reason I use the intake media basket.
