I'm in the midst of cycling my new 75G and I have an eshopps R-200 refugium/sump plumbed to it. Question...should I have the filter sock in while I'm cycling?

Also...if I put pods in the refugium and when they make it to the tank and down to the filter sock...this is going to trap them, correct? Also will it block other nutrients my corals may want/need?

Thanks!

yes but dont sweat it. the numbers will stay where the food is.

yes but dont sweat it. your system will settle in and you can pull it or poke holes if you want to experiment.

Should? not really. but itll get extra gunk & dust out and make for a prettier display of the bat.

filter socks are fine as long as you make a conscious effort to keep up with them. As saltyfilm says I wouldn't worry about losing my pods in a sock as they will populate where they can survive. Off the top of my head I cant think of any nutrients that a sock would 'catch' or accumulate that would stunt coral growth. If anything, I would be worried about detrius buildup in it which can cause a nitrate spike and eventually ill effect your corals. I know there's a million opinions out there but my softies do best with 5-10ppm of nitrates.
