Getting ready to build my sump in a few months and am trying to figure out if I should go with filter sock holder or not.

I’ve seen plenty of reviews for and against them. My biggest concern is that I will have a Fuge section I would like to try and grow some pods in for my tank. I’ve read that many people find their pods getting caught in their socks.

Are there ways around this (without the obvious of not having socks)?

Looking to see what others have done, do, learned, etc

Totally up to you about the socks really. I wouldn't be concerned with the few pods that get caught in the filter socks. If you really are concerned with the small amount of pods that do get caught in the socks, you really do not have that many in your tank to begin with ;). Most of your pods will be in your macro algae and in the rocks in your tank.

I will keep this in mind! Thank you.

I use the mesh filter socks instead of the felt ones. I don't have a fuge but have added pods to my tank. My mesh filter socks are full of pods when I clean them. It is easy to remove the pods from the mesh socks vs. the felt ones. I decided to let my socks go for 3 weeks to see what I got and this is what I had in my two socks. I removed all the pods and decided to did this experiment again and same thing.
My mesh socks produce pods like crazy. Funny thing is I never saw very many in my tank, only in the socks.
