Filter socks in the laundry

I always wash on cold water. As your hot water heater ages it builds up sediment on the hot water heater. Many times there is a lot of heavy metals in the sediment. Obviously many of you have used hot water for years and not had an issue. Over long periods of time I could see the hot water possibly causing an issue.

First full wash cycle with 1/2 cup of bleach then rinse only cycle again.
The best thing I've purchased for cleaning filter socks was the portable washer. $100 on Amazon.
I change mine out every week (5 from three tanks) hose them off outside and toss in a bucket. Every two weeks into the portable washer with bleach followed by a rinse in clean water then hang outside to dry for a few days.
Keeps the nasties out of the home washer and makes momma happy.

I wash them in a little bleach then do a extra cycle and add dechlor.

I would replace them if they have been washed in detergent.

I rince them out immediately after I pull them in the laundry sink to get the bulk of the heavy stuff out and then save until I have enough for a load (about 12 usually). I run washer on short cycle to rinse it out before washing my socks. I just wash them in the washer on extra long cycle with just hot water 1 time, then a short cycle and let them dry. I do not use bleach.
