Filter socks smell like fabric softener

I normally soak my socks in hydrogen peroxide then give them a good rinse. I decided to do the same but throw them in the washer no soap or anything. I let them air dry but now they have a slight smell of fabric softener. Should I be concerned or am I just being paranoid? Anyone else ever notice ther same thing?

Bleach them you won't have that problem

I would be concerned.

When I wash my socks in the washing machine I always run an empty cycle first with bleach. The I put the socks in again with some bleach and wash them. Then I give the socks an extra rinse cycle and let them natural dry completely.

I’ve done this for years without issue.

If your in doubt, don’t use them .

My suggestion would be to wash them again as I described above and then check them.

It will be natural for them to have a slight bleach Oder afterwards, but this will dissipate after they completely dry.

Air dry throughly.

I would let them dry in sunlight if possible.

Thanks everyone I will try the bleach. Should I just do the bleach from now on and skip the hydrogen peroxide?

I run a quick cycle on the washer with bleach before I wash my filter socks. I run them with bleach then let them air dry. I would skip the peroxide personally
