Filter Sponge in sump

Just curious…does anyone use the filter sponge in the last baffle before the return section in their Trigger sump? I just added a DIY algae scrubber and was thinking I may end up having algae escaping and going straight to the return.

Yes i did this with a custom piece of filter foam due to the chaeto getting blown into the display from the sump

Not in this sump, but in mine I have a not so very dense thin piece of sponge before the return pump chamber to catch macroalgae
