Filter/sponge?

I have a 28g Nano Cube. I was wondering what are some better options for the filter/sponge in the media basket? Is the stock sponge good enough to keep purchasing replacement sponges or move onto something different/better?

You can try thinner and thicker. Its basically just a filter sock, a mechanical filter for large particles. In the rest I ran my carbon and chato. In AIO I think its important to have a very good mech filtration.
