Filter upgraded to sump

They contain the same bacteria as lr, they are the same thing, an area for beneficial bacteria to grow.

bio-balls are an excellent arobic bacteria factory but they lack the anaerobic bacteria (like live rock has) for reducing nitrates, which they allow to build up over time, they're great for getting a new tank started but aren't recommended in an established reef tank system

But anearobic bacteria should be non existant, marin tanks have plenty of DO in them. Plus, bioballs dont make nitrates, they just dont proccess them, that is what lr does anyways.

Ok, filter socks in!

I like the progress. I would have to second what others are saying about bio balls. Ideally if you have a good skimmer then it will remove alot of the DO before your LR/Balls have to deal with it. I'm not say the balls are a bad thing, just that LR is a better option.

Little bit of an update, the sump is really cleaning the water, I put soe biosponges between the last two baffles to eliminate microbubbles, and I measured my aqua c and foud out that it is and aqua c pro.

I put some phosban in a media bag inside the filter sock, Im hoping that will clear up the algae blooms. Its kind of like a green layer that covers my entire tank . The magfloat takes care of most of it, but I really needed the phosban to stop the bloom. Ive sewn worse, good thing that it isnt hair or bubble algae.
