I've been on hiatus for 5 years from my last mixed reef tank. I'm no w setting up a 150 gallon tank with softies, mostly mushrooms and polyps and low maintenance stuff. I really want mostly fish, not sure what kind but I do want a Picasso trigger and a few Tangs/Siurgeons and then whatever else, I have not decided.

Here is what I have so far:
Platinum Trigger Sump - 39
RedSea Skimmer RSK 600
100 lbs Live Rock + 1 inch sand bed
Couple of marine pure blocks

Do I need to add
1. UV sterilizer?
2. Any type of Reactors? - Carbon, GFO, etc?
3. Do I need to dose Calcium or other supplemnts in such a tank?
4. Is there some other type of filtration I should incorporate?
5. Should I get more live rock?

I'm not sure if I will get bored of this and eventually turn it into a mixed reef so I am building out a manifold system in case I have to add reactors and such in the future.

Tank arrives in about 4 weeks with a ghost overflow so I have plenty of time to plan.

Thanks

I am a big fan of simple setups and have never gone into the reactors (except carbon as needed), UV sterilizers, etc. Your tank will be fine with what you have currently. Since you are installing a manifold, you have already done the prep for future reactors.

1. UV sterilizer? NO, SOME FOLKS DONT USE AT ALL LIKE MYSELF
2. Any type of Reactors? - Carbon, GFO, etc? NOT YET ESP WITH SOFTIES TANK
3. Do I need to dose Calcium or other supplemnts in such a tank? NO, SOFTIES DON'T USE MUCH ALK OR CALC ESP IN THE BEGINNING REGULAR WC WILL KEEP UP WITH DEMAND
4. Is there some other type of filtration I should incorporate? THINK U HAVE IT COVERED IN THE LIST.
5. Should I get more live rock? 100 LBS SHOULD BE PLENTY
