Hi,

I finished setting up my first ever tank two days ago.

However, regarding filtrating I'm a bit stuck.
The tank I bought (used) came with a few WB filt socks / a kinda basket (?*, see picture).
The filt socks are nice and well, but washing them is almost impossible (no access to washing machine / hose)
I read that mesh socks were a possible solution to my problem. However, no one makes them in the size that WB C 20 uses (2.5)

Most people seem to be using an Intank media basket -- and if possible, I'd use it too. Shipping + taxes to Belgium are however ******.

Could I perhaps use filter floss with the basket that I have?
Any other tips or input are appreciated!

Currently only running filter sock, carbon and skimmer in mine. Cleaning the socks is pretty easy, just turn it inside out and run a bunch of water through it. Soak it in white vinegar for an hour to get

I don't run floss or other stuff because I don't want too much detritus accumulation or need to constantly clean it.

Aha, so the washing machine & bleach routine isn't per se necessarily? That would be perfect.
At what ratio do you also change your filter socks?

Hi there, congrats on your first reef tank. I also have a WB20. Have you tried to get a local 3D printer to do the job and print you one filter basket? May be more cheaper! For instances, you can put one black cube at the bottom until you get it. The sock works well but you need to clean it every morning and eventually you need a new one and these are expensive, here in Canada 23 cad each one and not available on amazon.

No, not necessary in my opinion. Depends how much buildup you're getting. I think once a week is reasonable, it only takes 5 minutes.

Thanks! How are you enjoying yours? I might indeed try to find someone local with a 3D printer & ask an avg-price.
Also, oof: 23 cad / filt sock is a lot.

Ait, will try it for some time (until the floss arrives)

That filter cup will work just the same as a media basket, just bag any carbon, rowaphos etc you need in media bags, drop them in the cup and put filter floss on the top, change the floss every couple of days.
