Filtration Help

Hey, my friend is giving away a Marineland Magniflow 160 Canister Filter, would this be suitable for a 20 gallon? I heard the flow is bad but I have an adjustable wave maker so would this be fine? Currently running a decent hang on back. What do you guys think?
