I hate filter socks. Replace it with an in tank media basket and floss. You will find that much easier to manage. I like to put seachem metrix in my bottom charmer for more bio filtration. Also, what you are experiencing is completely normal with a newer tank. Just keep an eye on it like you are obviously doing and enjoy your tank.
I have considered the media basket as well, my only issue with that is, will it flow through all three stages of the media basket? 210 tunze pump currently, but a 350 ordered today, actually a 357 gph sicce pump. I just think the AIO could have been better, maybe three compartments instead of two, would probably flow better with more restrictions, Idk. Of course they come out with a fourth generation not long after I bought my 3rd Gen, and I believe it's 3 compartments in the 4th Gen setup. Just not happy with the flow in my AIO, but there again, the 210 gph was just a recommendation, should have went bigger from the get go.
I even spent good $$ on a tunze 9001 protein skimmer, and barely able to squeeze that contraption into the AIO box, and that was a huge disappointment, took it out after a week, and actually have two of them now, one brand new in box for free from BRS, was a shipping issue and damaged parts, etc.
Basket will be the next experiment, if socks and bigger pump doesn't work to my liking. Anyone ever tried putting an internal power filter in place of the sock?? Totally curious about trying this as well.
