FILTRATION ON AN AUTOMATIC WATER CHANGE SYSTEM

I was planning on using either a Neptune dos or Ecotech Versa pump to conduct automatic water changes.
However I was considering installing a 1 micron particle/sediment filter inline to remove any debris or bits from the fresh saltwater.
I am using Red Sea coral pro and don’t get very much debris in my current mixing barrel. I currently use a seachem media bag (THE BAG) on the outlet of my automatic water change unit (where I mix my salt) to remove that debris and particles.


Would it cause any issues by plumbing a particle/sediment filter inline between the saltwater storage barrel and the pump?

If anyone is doing this already, I would appreciate some pictures

Only thing i can see being a problem is buildup and having to clean it periodically.

I was thinking of using a 1 micron washable/pleated filter cartridge to stop any potential "bits" from getting into the tank.

My concern would be the chance of reduced flow over time which would result in more water being removed than added, causing your ATO to add extra freshwater and lowering salinity.

Switch to Tropic Marin Pro and you won't have any bits to worry about. I used RS Coral Pro and built up a considerable amount of precipitate in the drum. But even as it flaked off it did not cause any issues. Using TM Pro now and the drum is crystal clear. Either way I would not put a filter in an AWC or ATO system.

Thanks for the advice, however I don't plan on changing salt.
As in my eyes stability is key, and I have used red sea coral pro since day 1 of my reefing journey
