Hey guys,

I am currently running an IM 8G nano and am into my 2nd month of cycling. I have a fish, inverts, and a CUC.

I currently have a 3 stage filter. The top chamber has a sponge, 2nd chamber has some rocks, and the 3rd chamber has another sponge like thing.

I have been reading really good things about using filter floss, chemi pure elite, and purigen instead.

My question is... If I want to switch my filters out can I do it all at once, or should I do it in stages?

As always thank you for all of your help.

John

I dont see why you couldnt swap it all out at once, shouldnt cause any issues. Doesnt seem any different than say swapping a dirty handful of filter floss for a clean handful.

If you are just changing the sponge should be ok. If changing out all parts of the filter I would do it in stages

Your welcome to switch your media as needed as often as you would like. A good little tip, instead of buying overpriced filter floss form a LFS or pet store you can go to a craft store and buy pillow stuffing, a huge bag for a buck and use that! Chemi Pure works really great and it pre bagged at purchase so its easy to use. Chemi pure is basicly a activated carbon that contains a phosphate remover while purigen is a man made plastic type bead that absorbs impurities. The big thing about purigen is that its "rechargable".
