Good morning!

Today my cycle completed and I am looking to get 2 clownfish to keep for a while before stocking anything else. I currently have 2 wave maker powerheads, dry rock, and live sand. My plan is to build a refugium with chaeto, some marine pure block and a grow light to reduce nitrates and house copepods within the next few weeks. Would it be safe to keep 2 clownfish in this tank with what I currently have until the fuge is done?

Thanks :)

Yes

Hello mate, How long has it been cycling? Clown fish are fine as they are hardy little creatures. Before you add them test for Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temperature, and salinity. Every tank cycles differently and can vary in length. Especially after you add new fish. If everything is under acceptable level then should be fine. Add something like Seachem Stability (or something equivalent) after adding fish to the new tank. Just an opinion. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I like your plan. I think you're good to go w clowns. Can always fall back on water changes.
If you get a good light, you may be shocked at how well a fuge can perform, basically all on its own.

Thanks for all the replies. My ammonia is 0 as well as nitrites and my nitrates are under 1ppm. Temp is 76 and ph is 8.2. Salinity is 1.025. Going to pick up my new tank mates tonight! Super excited
