I'm setting up a 25 lagoon. With the sump there will be about 30-40 gallons of water volume in the system.

I have a question about filtration if someone could help me out.
I'll have about 15-20 pounds of dry rock and 20 pounds of live sand in the tank. I'm thinking about adding some "bio-media" in the sump as well.

Can I just add some extra dry rock in the sump when I start the cycle or should I go with Brightwell or Marine Pure?
I'll likely have 8+ pounds of rock left over and obviously, if I can use some of that in the sump it would save a little money. Any reason I can't do that, is one better than the other?

That's perfectly fine to use the dry rock in your sump. Both the dry rock and bio block will not have any bacteria on it. I like the rock idea cause when you start getting frags you have LR ready to go for fragging. You can also run both.

Thank you!
