Ok so I already have a hob filter and skimmer but they both have there problems.

The hob filter splashes bubbles down into my tank which hits my powerheads and put loads of tiny bubbles around the tank which agitates my corals.

The skimmer is basically cheap, crap, noisy and takes up way to much space in my 10g

Anyone have ideas for the perfect filtration to stop my problems for this tank??

It's has 2 powerheads which give plenty of flow so I don't want to remove any of them.

Yup. Remove them both and do larger weekly water changes.

So no filtration at all?
Will my tank be ok with just 2 powerheads?

I have it stuffed with about 22lbs of lr but I thought I'd also need some mechanical filtration.

Your system will be fine with no filter on it. The LR is your filter. And by doing your water changes, you remove excess nutrient build up. Just keep an eye on your numbers, they will tell you if you need to do bigger water changes.

Reefing Madness is pretty spot on in those words of wisdom unless your able to add a sump to your system. The 10 gallon AGA tank I just set up recently has only a Aqua-Clear filter in it besides the Live Rock and with weekly water changes has served me well in years past and seems to be doing just as good currently. The only disclaimer I have is that I do not have any fish in the tank...

Thanks for all the advice guys.

The tank has 2 fish, 2 hermit crabs and 3 turbo snails. That's the max I will ever have.

Well, another thing you can do is to put the hob filter on a timer and run it at nights so as to polish water and use powerheads in the morning .

air bubbles arent that bad except for being an eye sore so let it happen at nights and it should be fine.
