Okay so for some pre context, I have kept a salt water tank before with.. moderate success, and have successful kept freshwater tanks and other exotic pets my whole life. Right now I have no fishtanks set up and it sucks!! So I wanna set up a 40 breeder I have, I wanna do FOWLR but heavily planted with macro algaes, and over time add fester dusters and oysters and the other awesome salt water invertebrates, and was wondering if this set up that has so much filter feeders and plants would need a sump? Or if smaller filtration would suffice. TYIA

A sump is just far more convenient long term than any other kind of filter. It's just so much nicer and I highly recommend it. However, a hang on back filter would work.

Pardon the repost, but I’ve had macros in the display…if you could avaoid tangs and fox faces, et…
Gulf Coast Ecosystems is where I cop my macros… Reefcleaners, KP Aquatics and a few others carry macros…

sumpless? It could work easily esp with macros in the display
sometimes simpler is better
