Hi all,
Some of you may know I started a 29 gallon reef. My filtration is a Cascade 700 canister filter, which is I believe rated for 65 gallons or so. It was just a leftover filter I had laying around at the time, but now I stop an think that maybe I should have done a refugium. I've made them before, in fact I have one on my 55 gallon softy reef. However, I think it would be easier to buy one of those HOB refugiums. What do you guys think? Build one or buy a hang-on? I've never tried the HOB ones.

Thanks,
Justin

I've been running a HOB refugium on my 26g for 2+yrs :)

I have the AeroFuge, which works just fine (I no longer use it, ironically). I feel like HOB refugiums are over priced though.... way overpriced.

What other equipment are you running? Do you think I would be ok running just the refugium and no skimmer? Nice tank btw.

Ya they are kind of overpriced which is the reason I made one on my 55. But I think a smaller one would be good.
