I've had my biocube 14 setup for about 8 months now and I was thinking about adding the biocube protein skimmer. At the moment I have no room in my first chamber as that is where I keep my chemical filtration (carbon). Would it be better to remove the carbon and run the protein skimmer or just keep the carbon and avoid the protein skimmer. I would also like to remove the bioballs over time so whatever would work best.

I would keep the carbon running for water clarity. If you can, I would keep it after your PS. I would remove the bio-balls as they compete with your LR for bacteria growth;)
