I know having that there's no such thing as to much filtration. been thinking about getting either a HOB aquaclear filter or a external fluval 406 or 306 filter for a 60 g. I don't have room for a Sump or refuge. just looking for opinions on what I should get. I am currently using a HOB eshopps PSK-100H. I don't know if using an aquaclear 70 would do much for exporting nutrients. but that's as big as I can go to put on my tank. wanting for pods and a little cheto. and not sure on how the external filters work. going to do some research on that. but looking for opinions and advise on this.

Thank you.

HOB's will remove suspended particals by use of filter floss or filter cartridge. Use of GAC will help with water color and some DOC's.

As far as nutrient reduction in the way of removing N03 and P04, use of GFO or Nopox in a bag will help.

I did get a fluval(aqualan 70). although currently running with the sponge filter and the cabon. I have live rock ruble in there instead of the media that came with it. it's already established rock. so it should already have bacteria. I am eventually going to find a light and grow some cheato in it. although not much since these HOB filters are small. I will be adding copepods to it and getting a mandarin.

Good luck with your plans.
I got the issue resolved with the ph. I have 3 circulation pumps in the tank. I cut the panty hose to get the circulation to be a little better but still wasn't getting the surface agitation I wanted after 8 hours. no real change in ph levels. so I removed the panty hose completely and did a make shift cage around the circulation pump and pointed it toward the surface a little more. then left it over night. went and tested it. 8.1 ppm. althought not 8.2 or 8.3 I deffinately see a big change in some of my corals. good changes. and nems seem a little happier there opening up more than what they were. in the mornings ph is 7.8 then second tests after lights turn off its between 8 - 8.2 ppm. so i'm a little happier about that. I am using the API marine test kit.
