Fin erosion on tang

Hello,
Fish is an friends tank with severe erosion of the fins. He had it since around 1 month. Anybidea what this could be or how to treat ?

See the dark margins? That often indicates granulation tissue, part of the healing process. To me, that indicates this fish had some fin issue (tankmate aggression?) in the past, but that it is healing. However, the fish is pretty pale as well. You might want to ask what it is being fed, maybe the diet could be improved?

He has a sergeant major damsel in the tank which i believe is the culprit . Asked him to observe and remove if needed. He will also also improve feeding .
