Hello,

i bought two new baby clownfish yesterday to replace my beloved Blind one that was killed :(

Today I woke up and noticed that the smaller one has a ruined fin. Is this aggression from the bigger clown or fin rot? Was not there yesterday when I got them and not there when I went to bed.

I included a picture of this same side from when I first put them in the tank.

Fish is currently in a breeding box at the top so the other cant get to him. Not able to use my QT tank as I have some fish being treated for velvet from my main DT (the clown in question is in a 32 biocube not my main DT).

More than likely the larger one being a female has started it behavior of hierarchy. The female will chase and bully the male, nip at it, chase it to a corner of tank and try to steal all the food (reason why its often larger).
Observe for aggression. You may have to separate the female in an acclimation box for a week or two to allow male to get comfortable in its new home

Okay I will try that. I put him in the acclimation box as soon as I saw his fin. She keeps coming up to the box. How long should I leave him in there? And how long will it be before his fin heals?

Fins as much as 5 days and acclimation box at least a week. Would have been best to place aggressor in acclimation box (fishy jail) but that works also
