Fin rot on coral beauty

Hey folks. I have coral beauty in Qt. I noticed some white dots on its body. I slowly added a half dose of copper to the tank. Levels are at .25. I’m now seeing the beginning stages of fin rot. What should I do? Do I continue to leave it inthe copper for 12 more days or do I take out the copper and dose for fungal? Thanks btw it’s eating food.

With fin rot the trifecta is usually metro+kana+furan2 and that should treat a wide range of bacteria.

It’s a 10 gal qt. I read that Cupramine works as low as .25 for ich. I’ve tried to qt angels before and they are very sensitive to copper. It’s been in the copper for two days. No stress building up to that dose. 50% water changes every day while in qt. It’s been in the qt for 7 days so far

I would bump up copper to atleast .4 for cupramine. Then after I would switch to copper power as it’s not as harsh for fish as cupramine is. In the mean time he could also be flashing from flukes as well. I would do a 20% water change and dose the trifecta for 5 days to help with the bacteria issue. Metro will also help with flukes if any. Try to keep water as pristine as possible during this time.

Cupramine states to not mix medication.

At .25 copper and a 20% water change in a 10g QT should bring the copper levels down far enough to dose meds. If you are still concerned you can run carbon for a day or 2 to help remove some copper before dosing.

From your pictures I’m not really seeing signs of ich. I do see spots near or on fish but it also looks like bubbles. So yes I would take care of bacteria way before ich as it can be much deadlier if non treated.

It still has this white spec on it. Any idea what it could be. I’m waiting for it to fall off

Do you have any sand in QT? Could be a grain of sand or has the spec been on the fish for a few days?

There’s no sand, it’s not a bubble. I know my pictures aren’t that great. It protrudes out of the body. It kind of looks like a hair follicle is shape and size and it appears that there are a couple others smaller in size near that location

Pay attention to it for a couple more days and see if it fades away. Usually if it were ich it would have faded away by now but 3-7 days is normal. Just keep an eye on it and report back how he’s doing.

It’s only Been a day, his appetite is back. I broke out my dlsr to try to get better picture. These 3 dots are there and don’t look to be going anywhere.

Honestly from those pictures it does not look like ich. Keep treating for bacteria(fin rot). How’s the flashing as well? What are you feeding I don’t think we went over that?

There is no more flashing. That stopped after I put the meds in. I’m feeding brine and mysis shrimp as well as cyclops.
