Thank God, neptune and any other interested deities...we are almost ready to move the tank one last time. It’s been moved from rural upstate NY cross country to the almost top of a mountain in Colorado...then further down the mountain to my daughters basement (still up and running) and now our house is almost completed, a little further down said mountain.
Actually, it’s really going to be a whole new tank as we are upgrading from an 80 cube to a 90...and new lighting going from two kessils to a t5/kessil hybrid.;Happy To say the move from NY to CO was an adventure is like comparing COVID to a bad case of hangnails. We had everything from catastrophic spills in hotel rooms to paly toxin poisoning.;Shifty
So I’m really looking for any suggestions which might make things easier, quicker, less poisonous(lol) and with the least upset to my corals...the fish seem to do just fine. Issues I’m thinking about are: water...how much of the original tank water do I relocate and how much new water to add? Gravel...again, how much of the current gravel can I take with me and how much new gravel, if any? Should the old gravel be rinsed in fresh or salt water to maintain as much good bacteria as possible?
All the rock is coming with us and with a bit of rinsing I hope will be fine. I was expecting, when we moved from NY, to have to go thru the whole cycling thing but surprisingly that didn’t happen...so with a short move like this I’m sure we’ll be fine.
Any suggestions which might ease this move to the tanks final resting place will be much appreciated!

Sounds like you have more moving experience than most of us but....

I wouldn't rinse the rocks unless your battling some algae and in that case only with saltwater. Sand can and should be rinsed with freshwater. Nothing wrong with reusing sand. I like to use some (maybe half) old water but it isn't really a big deal. You can use mostly new water if you want.
