Finally build the tank stand for new build, looking for input?

Hello R2R family - I finally am getting around to upgrading from a 90 gal to a 135 gal. Just built the stand today...

So, i'm not much of a carpenter but I can handle the simple things.. Just looking for input if this looks solid enought

A friend of mine was mentioning putting 45 degree braces to help for any horizontal stress. But most builds, even for larger tanks don't employ this.

Used 2 1/2 '' deck screws, everything is made from 2x4's southern pine.

Looks good. The only thing I would have done differently is the inner 2 x's, going vertical. I would have extended them flush to the top of the top frame. You get more surface area to add more fasteners thereby increasing your lateral stability. Now you should epoxy or otherwise waterproof all your dimensional lumbar paying particular attention to the end grains.

Looks good! annd as for the braces well if you put a piece of ply on the back tht will take care of any bracing needs......it will act like a shear wall.

Yeah....That is what I used when I built mine...

epoxy is done, got my 3/4 " panels all cut ready to edge corners , sand and stain. I spent too much $$ on Birch but i think it'll be worth it

I'm right there with ya, although i've always had a passion for learning carpentry. This was rather fun. I just look up DIY videos on youtube, and R2R is a great place to get feedback for random questions.

This was main video i focused on following, however he was building for a plexiglass or fiberglass(i dnt remember) tank so it's a little different with how you support the tank.
