I've been viewing posts for a while but finally decided to create an account and be more active! I've been in the hobby for a while. Currently have a nano and frag zoas in my free time. Here are a couple of my frags!

Welcome to the reef! Should’ve joined sooner. Looks like you have a ton of knowledge to share on zoa fragging.

Your collection of zoas is beautiful! Could you share any tips with someone who has never fragged zoas before?

Thank you! Most of what I have are frags that are pretty common in my area. I've been starting to acquire "higher end" zoas and ones that are harder to get.

I've had the most success fragging zoas with a piece of the previous rock/plug vs removing the flesh and supergluing them directly to the plug (it can still be done though), which is why you'll see most of my frags have a piece of the old frag on it. Also you'll have more success fragging multiple polyps vs just one, though single polyps can still survive, in my experience the frags recover faster with at least 3-4 polyps on a new plug.

Look for areas where a couple polyps have branched out and frag those first.

Make sure you wear gloves and goggles as a precaution.

Also I dip the new frags in lugols iodine before returning to the tank.
