Hey guys, I have had the tank on autopilot for a long time but I finally am working on cleaning it up. A couple of weeks ago I got a pair of MP40s and am loving them. I finally have flow comparable to what I had with my DIY reeftecs I made years ago. They worked very well but the only problem was the Little Giant pumps would burn out after a couple of months. I have been changing water and testing regularly again and the tank looks a ton better. The water is clear again and the tank is almost clear of the cyano that was very prevalent before. I bought a few SPS frags from AQ a few weeks ago and they are actually coloring up and one acro had an injured spot I didn't see before I bought it and it is starting to heal over. I had put off working on the tank because I was afraid I had a long hard road ahead of me. The MP40s really helped because they kept all the detritus that build up in the LR suspended. At first the tank was so cloudy I couldn't see through it. Whenever the tank would clear, I would just change what mode the MP40s were on and then I would see detritus getting stirred up again. The tank has a long way to go but at least I don't get disgusted every time I look at it.

Awesome. It's great to hear you had a 2nd wind instead of throwing in the towel.

I seriously thought of selling it all several times but I couldn't bring myself to. For several years I could grow sps easily and then all of a sudden I went through several problems and unexplained sps deaths. For a long time it seemed like the harder I tried, the worse things got. I finally just gave up.

This is an amazing testament to these pumps. I was already sold on them, but this is the icing on the cake. I am looking to get 2 in the very near future. I will probably have to start with one, but this is just awesome for you. Glad you are back.

Yeah mp40's are awesome. In my 34g I had to blast my rocks with a turkey baster every time before WC. But with the 120g and 2 mp40's there is no need.

I have wanted to get some for a while but the price always turned me off of them. I am glad I finally got some. At first they had serious noise problems but they have quieted down to just a slight hum now. For a while they went through a squealing stage when going slow. My tank is in my finished basement and they were so loud I could hear them when I opened the door to the stairs all the way on the other side of the house. I am usually not too worried about noise from the tank but it would give me a headache it was so loud.

We all gotta start somewhere. Quit making excuses and post pics.

Lol, I'll try to get some pictures soon.

I went to AC yesterday and came home with what they called a crown leather, a green pavona, and a big blue linkia starfish. I got the leather because that was the first coral I ever had. It stayed closed up for months and I thought it was dead until one day a couple of polyps popped out. I was so exited. lol It went on to grow huge and I had hundreds of offspring from it that I sold or gave away. It was more a sentimental purchase than anything. I don't usually give linkia a second look because of the poor survival rates but this one was exceptionally healthy looking. I bought one that looked similar years ago and it lived a couple of years until I had some tank problems. I think it was when I got the bad bucket of IO salt. There was a bad batch at one time and when my tank had problems I kept changing water so everything kept getting worse.
