For a tank that size, start dosing 5 ml a day. Test the following day and see where it is. If still going down increase volume by 2.5 mL and test the following day. Keep doing this until you are where you want to be consistently.

thank you question if I am dosing 5 ml a day. Will that bring my alkalinity to 9.5 ??

It might depending on your consumption. It just takes a few days to figure out since it’ll take the microbes in your tank 1-2 days to process the calcium formate. Just be patient and you’ll figure your system out.

If you can do it in a few days thats great, it takes me weeks of daily testing and dialing in to get it right.

my mistake for some reason I read Bacto balance

It took me a while to dial in AFR. I let my alk drop for a couple of days to see what my consumption is. I did that a few times then dosed back up with 2 part. Once I new what my consumption rate was it made it easier to dial in the amount of AFR needed. I've been using it for 7 months and alk has been very stable. When my alk drops because consumption increases I just bump the AFR amount 2 ml and test and adjust as needed. My tank is 65g total and I'm currently dosing 35ml daily. Some test results below just to show how stable alk stays using AFR

I have a Red Sea Reefer 250 G2+. I dose 12.5ml daily. I used Red Sea Reef Foundation to get numbers where I want them and now AFR to keep stable. Has worked very well.

Salinity = 1.026
pH = 8.3
Alkalinity (dKH) = 9.0
Calcium (Ca2) = 469
Magnesium (Mg2) = 1350
Nitrate (N03) = 10
Phosphate (P04) = 0.29

do I have to dose magnesium to get it to the right level before using all for reef?
