Backstory; my wife is not with me as far as the hobby goes and it’s usually a point of contention between us. It finally dawned on us that what really irks her is the darkness of the aquarium as far as the living room is concerned. I’ve been wanting to paint the stand for some time but always worried about fumes and the fact that I would have to possibly have to go through hoops and worry about the reef, until I saw a post from someone in the forum (who I will give credit to as soon as I find his post again!), and the angelic music sounded!
CHALK PAINT!!!! It doesn’t give off fumes and it’s waterproof after you seal it with WAX!!! I have a ton of it in the garage from the myriad of projects off the wife’s home dew list and it was a done deal after that. Took me two days nice and easy no fuss no muss. The wife was astounded at the difference. Sooo, if you’re tired of the flat black pine look this is an awesome option. And the best part is you don’t have to move the tank or even sand.
