Hi guys! My name is Nicolas, I'm French, and after a good decade (without any exageration) of thinking about getting a reef tank and reading about it, I'm finally feeling ready.

My plan long term for this tank is to be more coral oriented, maybe one "small" tang like a flav as the biggest fish (I'd love a desjardinii, but I'm afraid the tank would be wayyyy too small for it long term, alas)

So we're talking, If Neptune's with me, a long term goal involving somekind of acropora and the like, and so, I'm planning something high end enough from the start in order to not have to upgrade three time each component down the line.

As for the start, I'll go 100% dry rocks, in order to have to worry on as few things as possible.

Tank would be a Red sea reefer deluxe 350. I've made a shopping list around said tank, I'd like your feedback on that:

Inside the tank
- red sea reefer deluxe 350
- red sea RSK300 skimmer
- 2 MP40 Vortech
- 2 Aquamedic 100W heaters (for redundancy)
- 1 aquamedic 3000L/H return pump
- 34kg of dead rocks
- 40kg of dead sand (I've used the formula from the pinned guide, but as I'd use it more for show than for filtration, I've no idea how much i'll need until I'm in front of my tank I'm afraid)
- aquamedic refill system
-salt 20kg (the smallest packaging I've found for the 12-13kg I'll need)

Logistics around it
- an osmosis machine at 300L/day
- ecotech reeflink for the vortech
- a multitesk kit
- a refractometer
- a bacterial starter kit

This list should contain everything except glue/zipties/towels/jerricans/powerstrips. But It should be everything else needed for cycling the tank.

So my questions are:

1- IS something clearly missing/way over/underestimated? (I'm particularly wary of the skimmer, I wonder if it's enough.)

2- regarding the lights coming with the red sea, are those enough for coral keeping, or should I plan to add more/take a standard reefer and buy them separately?

3- do you guys have any comments/suggestions concerning this setup?
4-(bonus) a 350 is really too small for a desjardinii, isn't it?

Thanks in advance for the input!

4. Yes a sailfin or desjardini will get to large for that tank.

Sounds like you have a solid plan.
