Hi !

just so happy that we have finally water in the tank !!! LOL never thought it would happen - but we finally gave in and got the plumber to install it all!

now it is just to test everything - will empty it this weekend and make some water to hopefully have it ready in a few days !!!!

the only down side- it is noiser then I thought it would be ! I haven't figure out what is making all that noise yet ! but still - love it and cannot wait to finally start for good !

hopefully I can post pictures of the progress as we go ! I took one with my phone - but haven't loaded the pics in my computer - maybe later!

I will surely have a millions questions in the next days\ weeks !

Congrats Isabelle! Can't wait to see some pics! Where's that happy dance icon when you need it?!?

thanks !
I do have one question already ! the water doesn't really go in my skimmer's cup ? it goes up a little - but barely. is that normal ??? we have ( I know I know - next one will be better !) a coralife super skimmer 65. It was just started this morning.
I thought I remembered reading somewhere it was normal for the first few days - but can't find where I would have seen this !

thanks in advance !

ah - thanks ! and now it is just regular clean water anyways ! will empty it and fill it with filtered water and then start to have fun! ( well eventually! )

yep,the hardest part about this hobby is waiting for the tank to cycle

OK yet another question ! LOL the light we have is Coralife 24" high output T5 dual lamp. We have a 45 gallons cube tank (24 X 24) - it looks really small - just took it out of the box and I always wondered if it was enough - but just seeing it there - looks way too small ! I would figure we would need at least twice the lighting no ?? We are planning a reef tank

I don't mind having T5's - and having corals accordingly - but I want to make sure we have appropriate lights in there !

any good articles on lights ??

thanks !!!

Isabelle

Grats on getting things ready to run. For the light you will likely want another one. It will cover the area but with just 2 bulbs your combos are limited. Other than lower power consumption 1/2 the fun is getting just the right combo for the look you want while having something there to make the color on the corals really POP out for ya. Your fine to run with the one for now but as you start branching in to corals don't be alarmed if you need an additional light.

I briefely looked here on R2R and didn't see a specific lighting forum .. I am new also soooo prolly missed it.. maybe someone more seasoned can chime with with a good thread here for ya.

Congratulations Isabelle,
It’s a fascinating hobby. You are going to see all kind of new and interesting things as your tank matures.
You will enjoy it constantly.
