Ok so I currently have a golden tail moray eel in a 75 gallon aquarium. I am going to be moving soon so instead of moving my ya m across state lines I am going to just upgrade to a bigger tank when I move. So with this upgrade I am looking to get my final fish stocking for my tank tell me how this sounds,

golden tail moray eel

porcupine puffer fish

one spot foxface rabbitfish

so I am wondering what you guys think would be an appropriate sized tank for these three fish when I end up getting them. Also do you guys think these fish will be compatible I have heard that porcupine puffers are big time tail nippers so I would be ok trading out the puffer for something else (suggestions?). Thanks in advance for your help

Porcupines get A LOT bigger than one would think! Lol. For a long happy healthy life I couldn’t suggest anything smaller than an 8 foot tank for him to roam and grow! Just my personal preference with fish that get huge. But there’s no reason you can’t start out a little smaller while he is growing and work your way up!

Ok good to know I have heard sometimes they don’t grow so big but I would rather find a different fish than have an unhealthy one. What would you suggest instead of a puffer because I would like to keep it under 200 gallons

Also a well fed fat and happy puffer is less likely to even acknowledge he has tankmates. Especially if there are large animals that feed him walking past the tank often aka humans! Hahaha
Lol I wondered about that too

Off your willing to hit that 200 gallon mark there are some 8 foot 200s out there. Lol. Ever looked into any of the coral groupers?
I have looked into groupers before but I haven’t been too sure on the size requirements for them. My favorite tho is the v tail grouper. Do you know what they require?

I guess I should say I haven’t looked into them very extensively

They are among the small hinds from 10 to 12 inches full size if memory serves correctly. Wouldn’t be hard to find the info on them but from what I remember they are just like the majority of the smaller hinds. Not hugely active and love to perch. That said they will still actively swim around and need space to do so. Something like a 180 would probably suit it well!

Oh ok so they perch more I understand that wouldn’t be too bad. I am trying to find three fish to fit three different levels in my tank the eel for the rocks the foxface for open water then I would like one that is kinda in between. Also I think I might be able to do a 180 gallon. What does a harlequin tusk require? Sorry for all these specific questions about fish I just like getting experienced opinions

That would be a good mid water fish for a 180 once it gets out of it’s shy faze. That said I have seen a couple that have gotten super aggressive. Luck of the draw on that one, but same thing that goes for the pruffers. Keep em fed and there’s much less chance of aggression.

awesome thanks so much for the info. Depending on how my tank adventure goes I might be trying to build that 180 from scratch so we will see The tusk may also change depending on the space I am going to sacrifice for this tank. But the eel and foxface are definitely staying
