Finding Nemo 3D will be in theaters on Sept. 14th 2012. What kind of effect do you think it will have on the hobby this time around?

Honestly I don't think it will have such a negative downturn as the first one did now that Nemo is a recognized household name but I could be wrong....

Well the first time it was good in the sense that it got people interested in keeping aquariums. On the other hand people killed a lot of fish too.

I think this time it will give the industry a nice bump again!

kids still come into the fish store and point out Nemo and Dori all the time, so I think it will impact this new generation of young kids who didn't see it the first time around....I'm sure i will get asked a thousand times "Can I keep Nemo in a fishbowl?"

as far as negative impact on the Marine Hobby well Hawaiian Legislators have already sparked up some good old fashioned negativity on that, this new showing of Nemo won't have the impact that it did the first time around but it will increase clown fish sales...guaranteed! lol

Someone had said that it's the same movie, just in 3d... is that right? I'm kind of surprised that it even increased sales of clowns initially, after the whole separating nemo from his dad thing.

That is what I heard...they are also doing it with the Star Wars movies (The Phantom Menace first I believe).

Hopefully there will be a little more education done by stores to help possibly get new hobbyist to set up tanks properly and keep them in the hobby and not just send them home with everything the need along with the fish the same day. I also hope the try to promote tank bred clowns over wild caught.

I blame lfs for all the dead animals, not the movie

the people selling the animals need to think of something more than a profit.
there is a lfs here that wont sell you anything you cant take care of dosnt matter if it ia a sponge,coral,fish...... if every store was like this it would save allot of animals!!!

the movie got my son interested in my tanks at 4yo, he was sad at the end when the fish were stuck in bags and going to die.
now he is 10 and takes care of his own tank!!
