Hi,

I am pretty new here and my tank is not even started yet.... I think we finally have everthying - picked up my sump this week.

We were wondering if the tank needed to be far from the TV. Where we would like to put it - it's 4-5 feet from it... Is that still too close?

Thanks in advance - can't wait to finally put water in!

Shouldn't matter. Just don't put it anywhere where it will glare a lot. Tanks, especially a reef tank, are very bright. Once you put it there you probably won't be able to move it.

Also consider the proximity of electronics to potential water spills.

Besides, you don't want your clownfish turning into couch potato tv junkies. :)

what size and what do you plan on having in there? think about noise? seating? veiwing? already covered ele. and welcome and best of luck on the new set up project

Well I was worried about noise/ vibrations...

It is far enough not to be dangerous for the electrics!

It is a 45 gallons cube tank. With a 25 gallons sump.

Now if i get my Ro di unit set up - i will be good to go! It is our first sw tank! Very excited!

We want mainly corals with a few fishes...

Tanks for the replies!

Id take a hard listen when doing your water test. Some tanks are louder than others nd some spouses more hard of hearing than others. The noise was an issue for my hubby, so we are looking at moving to another room for the upgrade

Welcome to R2R Isabelle! Congrats on your tank and would love to see some pics of your progress...

I would put it far enough away so that the lights from the tank don't shine on the tv because that would get annoying. Also keep it away from as much outside window light as possible to avoid sun light causing extra algae growth in your tank. Welcome to the forums!!!! :)

I will make a post with building info when i get it going for good!
