Fine particles in the water.

Hey Reefers. My tank is about 2 months old, cycled with live rock. Recently have been increasing bioload and the water is not as clear as it used to be. Looks like fine particles floating in the water.

I have a skimmer and bubble magus filter roller for filtration. Should I add Purigen in my sump? I have a media chamber in my sump. How much should I use? 95 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump. Total water volume is about 115g.

Two months is still pretty young. Most likely just normal bacterial bloom, particularly if your increasing bioload. Depending on how you started it may still be cycling.

As long as everything in the tank looks physically ok... I would let it ride. Worst thing you can do is overreact to variations of normal.

Could it be Micro bubbles? FWIW, my tank has little floaties all over it. But I have high flow and bare bottom.. so things get stirred up all the time.

What Micron socks are you using? I run 100. I know I have to change em out more, but my water stays way clearer.

Not bubbles. Could be a mix of pods and other detritus. My flow is pretty high. Should be some finer particles of sand.

What Micron socks are you using? I run 100. I know I have to change em out more, but my water stays way clearer.

Not using socks and using the Bubble Magus filter roller. A lot more convenient than socks, but takes up a bit of sump room. Can't seem to find what micron the roller sheets are.
