Finger leather receded and failing.

I have a red sea green finger leather that I have hade for 7 years. I sold a small piece of it to a fellow reefer. She said it did fine for a few months and is now failing. I will attach a photo. The arms are all pulled in and the stalk is looking like wood and becoming string like. All her levels are good and she has many sps, lps and softies and anemoney in the tank and all else is fine. She feeds it properly too. Any ideas?

Over illumination or water polishing with products like GFO would be my guess.
