Finger leather tear

Anyone every have had a tear in your finger leather. Is it a disease or new growth? I'm new to reefing, but tank has been established since 2003 as fish only. Starting reefing this winter 2106.

It looks to me like the coral is just trying break away from the larger piece on the left. A separation like this is actually quite common and nothing to worry about, but definitely keep your eye on it just in case though. Within a week or so you should have a clean break.

Thanks for the reply. That piece was a new growth and I was worried that there was something wrong with it. Can just relocate the piece when it breaks off to another place in my tank?
