Finicky fish experts or garlic users need some advice

I feed frozen cubes of Mysis. I do you Garlic Guard but only really because I use Selcon and it covers the taste of the vitamins. The fishes must like it. They go nuts eating.

I've done it this way for more years than I like to admit to.

What type of garlic do you use fresh or those elixirs they sell ?

When I make my own food I will either use fresh minced garlic and crushed garlic cloves. When I am lazy (most of the time nowadays) I add the following.

Half my freezer and half my pantry is full of fish food, you can try 20 different varieties of food, soaked in garlic or whatever, people around here are using other snakeoil extract soaks to entice finicky fish. One fish eats it and it's "wow the garlic worked" not. It's about getting them to recognize what you are feeding them is actually food. Some fish are more difficult than others, that's why starting out with live foods and providing natural points for them to start eating; like a mature piece of rock with algaes, sponges, and pods. Having tankmates already eating from the water column, and switching out the live to frozen. Until you get this you can throw the kitchen sink at them and just hope they get it before they starve to death.

The best system I've found is to feed live and frozen brine at the same, they'll start getting s taste for the dead, then mix in some mysis and eventually stop with the live.

I've used a variation of this to get picky eaters started. Get your fish eating live brine. Then take some of those same live brine shrimp, freeze them, and thaw them out again. Even though they're now dead, some fish will recognize them as the same as the live food they were just eating.

@LRS does it again he started to nip on it saturday today he took a gulp hopefully he continues to get more aggressive!!

Only bad thing this is the 2nd Multibar I get to eat in the past few months but this one only takes food from the floor not the water Column my previous did the same but also grabbed brine from the water column. Let’s see how this playes out.

How did I do it ? Obesserving the fish for s few hours a day of course yup long observation it’s easy for me since my tank it’s in the room and I have been watching less tv ever since lol, I noticed he was nipping at the eggcrate I places to block him of the first chamber in my sump so I started tossing food in there and he would eventually spit it back out, I also had a piece of LR which is completely covered in tiny feather dusters and sponges and pods, once he got comfortable he stared inspecting everything in the sump and that rock has been his go to spot for live stuff he cleaned it from dusters and sponges, so I started dumping LRS and brine and mysis on it, he would grab and spit and nipple he started a few days ago, I noticed he’s also more comfortable with me around the tank and last night tossed some LRS and he went straight to it and gulp some up then went back on the nipping.

In a week or 2 he will be added to the display pray he doesn’t pray on my corals like the previous although if it’s only the brain I can always sell it not a fan was a free frag, as long as my sps are safe I can manage

On some bad news I haven’t seen the leopard I don’t think he made it, he looked stressed

That rock with sponges is really doing it. Tossed some pellets on it last night he spit out the first a few times realized he grabbed some treats and went ham on the rest of the pellets! .... but again nothing from the water colum this guy only eats stuff on that rocks def has a thing for crustaceans, doesn’t touch any of the algae what’s so ever def not a grazer

Look at all the empty duster shells on the rock it was full of them I have a bunch on the display he’s gonna love

That's typical for finicky fish, takes a bit of time to start eating wothout spitting. Also they take to nipping more than eating directly from the water column as that's more natural for them.

He’s definitely a nipper, added him to the display since he was taking the brine and mysis of the water Colum he def got a bit more aggressive he realized the turkey Baster means food, he gave it a few tail whips now he’s comfortable with it let’s see if he can compete with Chromis in the DT

If it has not already been suggested toss in some live black worms... helps get picky fish eating., just Becareful not to get them hooked only on the worms.
