So I just finished building my stand and I just have to paint it and applying some paneling. I wasn’t planning on painting or putting any kind of finish on the inside since I won’t have a sump. I will have a few different tanks for saltwater, RO, and waste water. Would you recommend applying a finish to the inside of the stand or just leave it be?

It should be sealed some way even if you don’t have a sump. Spills and splashes will soak in the unfinished wood and warp it over time.
I used 3 coats of oil based kilz. Easy to clean though I wish I would have went with a gray or black instead of white; only because I think it would have looked better.
Your stand looks nice, well done!

Thank you! I’ll go to the store and pick something up!

Live and learn. Unfinished wood deteriorates quickly when exposed to salt water.

I like Rustoleum's 'Topside' paint for inside of stands. Bright white, helps you see when you're poking around in there, and it dries HARD. Easy to apply, available most anywhere, and gives you a durable, waterproof finish.

I have always lined the inside of my stands with PVC shower pan liner. It also prevents leaks through the cracks and seams of the stand. Makes kinda like a sump around the sump.

I do both. Rust-oleum and then pan liner at the base. Call it overkill

Decided to do a coat on the inside of the stand to seal it. Not gonna have a sump so I didn’t wanna go overboard with it but I think I have enough left over for a quick second coat
