I have started cutting wood on a new canopy for my tank And I am seeking any finish recommendations you may provide.

through my searches here, it seems one option would be Krylon Fusion paint, but I also wanted to see if there is a good sealant I could consider, as I would prefer a more natural finish.

thanks

Most of mine are polyurethane fisnihed and mounted onto tank.
You also do a free floating canopy

Regular poly won’t hold up outdoors but should be more than adequate for your tank indoors.
If you’re concerned you can go with a spar varnish or urethane. It’s designed for outdoor use.

polyurethane
The left is an oil base Spar urethane. The right is a water based polyurethane. If I was doing an exterior project and wanted max water resistance, I would use the oil based option. However, my concern was whether I would leech harmful chemicals when exposed to salt spray over time. If the poly is good enough I’ll go that route.
